Objective:
The Government of Republic of Belarus is planning a country-wide programme to improve the quality of drinking water it supplies for around 700,000 people by installing around 530 new iron-removal units onto existing localised water intakes all over the country. This sub-project is a pilot to establish a mechanism for delivering this country-wide programme, installing around 80 stand-alone small-scale iron-removal facilities which serve 80 settlements in the Vitebsk Oblast. It is expected that the iron-removal facilities installation will be at the existing water intake facilities premises. These improvements will allow consumers access to both hygienically safe and clean drinking water which is in compliance with national, WHO and EU guideline standards.
The total investment is estimated at EUR 15.8 million.
Main Activities:
› Setting up, training and support of a PIU;
› Overall Project management;
› Development of preliminary design documentation;
› Preparation of tender documents according to appropriate FIDIC Contract Conditions and EBRD Procurement Policies and Rules;
› Assistance in procurement, arrangement of the tendering procedure for works and goods, including evaluation of tenders and drafting tender evaluation reports;
› Contracts administration;
› Arrangement of timely disbursements under the contracts;
› Construction supervision.
